What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is an aspect of psychotherapy that attempts to allow you to focus your mind so it is fully attending to ‘what’s happening and to what you’re doing’. Mindfulness training takes aspects of meditation, self-reflection and acceptance, allowing you to move throughout life whilst being mindful of your emotions. Mindfulness can be used to treat mild depression particularly if you feel like your mind is constantly racing. Although mindfulness has a strong evidence-based treatment put into practice by many people in bringing their life together, it may not necessarily be most effective for those who are suffering from severe depression- as this may require further support such as psychotherapy or medication.
